The Adventures of the Spider Monkey and Billy Goat (Untitled Wrestling Book) - Revised Book Cover Design

I made some color revisions to the book cover design that the author wanted for the cover. This is how it turned out. :)

Book Cover Finished!

The first final draft is complete. I submitted it to the author and He really likes it. He wants a couple changes made to the color of the honey badger and fox but other than that he is happy with the outcome and that makes me happy. :) I will post the final rendition soon. 

Book Cover Almost Done!

The book cover is almost completed. I still want to add some things and then I will see what the author thinks of it and see if there needs to be any revisions. It took me quite a while to work on this but, I'm happy with how it's turning out. It's rather simple but, I think small things help you work on larger things later. I'll keep you posted :)  

Book Cover- Progress

I  have been busy working on a book cover for a local author in Indiana. It is due friday  so I have been busy. Below, are three sketch ideas I had come up with. He liked the first design so, I am recreating it with a simple shading style and neat linework. I've got a lot to do but, it is close to being completed. Below the sketches I posted my current progress. I'm pretty happy with the outcome so far. I will post the final one and the revisions if there are to be any. :)

Did a couple character designs for the book cover project for Jason Gallegos. He is creating another The Adventures of the Spider Monkey and Billy Goat book this upcoming year and he commissioned me to design the book cover for him. He is an author from Indiana and has written a couple children's books and a couple of other adult books. I will reveal details soon once I am able. :) Here is some exploratory work for his project. I've got lots more work to go. I have permission to use this work in my portfolio.

Mother's Day Candy Basket Card

I did another drawing for our store :) We're having a candy basket and I designed a card design for it within what they wanted the design to be. We're passing out mints for mother's day tomorrow. I hope you like it and you enjoy Mother's Day this Sunday with friends and family. :)

Freelance Opportunity

I am so excited for a new freelance opportunity that I've gotten in the past day or so. I was asked by a new author in Huntington to design a children's book cover. It's a small start but, I am hoping it will go well and start to get my work out there. I will keep you all posted. I won't say much as I want to make sure everything goes well before spreading the news. :)

Valentine's Flyer

My work asked me to design another flyer for the store to put in bags for this year's Valentine's Day. So, I started off doing a bunch of designs and I have finally found one that I like. Here is the final versions. The first one is without the background and the second is one with the background. I am very pleased with this design. :)

Owen's Christmas Flyer - Completed

I finished my Owen's Christmas Flyer just a couple weeks ago. It has been really busy this month in retail so I haven't posted it yet.The associates really liked it and it made my day. So, we got to hand out my art out to customers in the plastic bags. I used reference of course and I was very happy with the outcome. I hope you like it too. :)

I am almost finished with Owen's Christmas Flyer. I still have some shading to do on the deer, the snow, and some other final touches. Here's my progress thus far.

So, the place where I worked asked if I would draw up a Christmas flyer to put in the bags at our store and I told them I would. So, here's my rough draft of it. I plan on making this loads better but this is just the rough render of it. I plan on adding color and text. I hope they will like the final outcome.

Fresh Snow- Character Exploration

Today, I spent some more time drawing up more ideas of what I'd like the deer to look like. The deer in the middle is what I will most likely strive for. I like the length of the horns and will probably use the antlers from the upper right drawing. I'm trying to find ways to stylize the deer and I simplified the nose to my own style.

Fresh Snow - Exploratory Boards

I did some extremely rough boards today to just get out my ideas. I am going to re visit this later and definitely make everything readable. I wanted to capture the energy flowing first. These were just done super fast on paper.

Fresh Snow- Character and Background Exploration

 I started doing some sketches for Fresh Snow. I did some research on different deer species and I am going to make my main character/ animal, a young male Siberian Roe Deer.

  Fresh Snow is a creative writing that captures the many perspectives that fresh snow brings to us and the beauty of letting go of our past so we can boldly take each step into a new year. I heard our audio, and a young stag came to my mind. I have not drawn deer often so I am playing with the design. I just love the Roe deer's antlers. They are small yet, beautiful. I imagined a park with lanterns and a forest and city with lights not far off in the distance.

Fresh Snow

I've got some more cool news. My brother is a writer and we are thinking of doing some cool projects where he writes and I would animate to it. There is a sound recording he recorded that it is just under 3 minutes that he would love for me to animate to it. It is a creative writing excerpt he did called "Fresh Snow" and it is gorgeous.  It would be a great way for me to build up my portfolio. I will keep you posted on this. :)
